Fun Things in Tucson for the Weekend of September 20-21

No hurricanes in the forecast so lets all get out and enjoy this great relatively cool Tucson weather.  The Tucson theatre season has kicked off as well and Tucson's nationally recognized The Rogue Theatre has a fine production running this weekend and next.

Awake and Sing at The Rogue Theatre

No, it is not a musical but a dramatic look at one depression-era family, their search for truth and the ability to express it. Clifford Odets' Awake and Sing runs through September 28.  For more information and tickets, click the link:

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan at the Loft Cinema
Some may argue with me, but I consider Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan to be the finest of all of the Star Trek films.  It was the first to bring the real spirit (and characters) from the original television series to the screen.  Tonight at the Loft Cinema on Speedway.  Click the link for tickets and more info: Star Trek at the Loft Cinema

Roasted Green Chile Festival at Saturday's Rincon Valley Farmers Market
It is that time of year to fill your freezer with freshly roasted green chilies to use throughout the year. The roasting goes until 3pm today at the farmers market located at 12500 E Old Spanish Trail on Tucson's far east side. There is also live music, fresh product and a beer garden.  Click the link for more information:

Buyers Beware: Watch What You Say While Viewing that Listing

Is the Seller listening in as my Buyers tour prospective homes? In the past, Sellers graciously left their properties so that prospective Buyers could view the property and discuss the features at their leisure. And that is still the case, in that Sellers rarely stay in the home for the Buyers' visit.

But...are the Sellers still there virtually?  In this day of mini-cams, nanny cams, security cams, skype, and cams and audio recorders on everything from phones to laptops to tablets, who can say for sure?  As I tour homes with Buyers, I often see such devices scattered around the home and you can never know whether you are being recorded.  There is some debate over the legality of such recording but I am starting to warn my Buyers to watch what they say inside the home.   You can admire feature but I recommend now that we reserve any serious conversations about interest and offer prices to when we have left the premises.  You don't want to give up your negotiating positions and strategies before you even leave the home.

Technology continues to change real estate in ways we never imagined!

Save Money by Checking and Maintaining Your Hot Water Heater

We all have such good intentions when we get new hot water heaters.  Yes: we will maintain them, yes: we will check them on a regular basis and yes: we will drain and flush them on a regular basis.  And then...we don't.

Having just bought yet another hot water heater for our Tucson rental house two weeks ago, I am back in resolution mode. YES: I will take care of this one.

So it was good that this timely article popped up this morning in the online real estate newsletter, Realty Times.  I am off to study it and offer it up to you as well.  It could save us all some money down the road.
